Looking for other ways to support our Midshipmen? King Soopers/City Market makes it easy through their Community Rewards Program. This program makes fundraising easy by donating to local organizations based on the shopping you do every day. Once you link your Card to an organization, all you have to do is shop at King Soopers and swipe your Shopper’s Card. Here’s how it works:
1. Go to kingsoopers.com and sign in to your account.
2. Click My Account > Community Rewards.
3. Search for US Merchant Marine Academy RMS Parents Association or by our rewards program non-profit organization identifier BK774.
4. Once you find us, select us as your organization and then click "Enroll".
5. Shop as usual - King Soopers donates to us automatically! It costs you nothing and makes a big different for our Midshipmen. Thank you for supporting us!
The Cookie Cafe at Kings Point is a 501(c)(3) organization 100% supported and run by KP parents, family and friends. Each event brings together Midshipmen, parents, alumni and even the faculty and administration of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy to create a friendly, relaxing environment at the school's recreation house on Thursday afternoons, starting in September. Visit KP Cookie Cafe for details on how to donate and get involved.
Look for the “Schedule” page for Cookie Cafe event dates to see which parent's association is sponsoring and baking. Then come back here to see hundreds of photos taken at each event and find your smiling Midshipman!
Parents, family and friends help in three areas: they donate money to provide the weekly quota of drinks and paper goods as well as fresh fruit, bagels, cream cheese and special treats; each week they bake hundreds of dozens of homemade cookies, coordinated by a KP mom; which show up at Cookie Cafe. Cookie Cafe volunteers spend many hours unpacking the baked goods, setting the tables, greeting Midshipmen, and clean up after the day is done.
And it's all free of charge, thanks to you. Cookie Cafe allows our Midshipmen a chance to get away from the stresses of the regimented Academy life for a little while, and provides a wonderful way for parents to support the Regiment and boosts morale.🍪
