Tips From Parents:

"Having worked 12 years at the USPS I knew about the deal on Priority Mail. I would rather pay the premium postage than buy boxes! And a lot of times the rate is only pennies difference anyway, depending on weight and zone of course. But I would also add that for the most part it is best not to add Insurance (except for the lowest rate which doesn't have to be signed for) because getting a signature can slow down the delivery. And Delivery Confirmation (NOT Signature) is a great deal at 40 cents for peace of mind. You can track your package and let your middy know when to go collect his/her package."
Priority Mail Tips:
You can order Priority Mailing Boxes from the US Post Office that are free and delivered to your home. They are delivered in a box that holds 25 boxes. Because they are flat, they are actually quite compact--about 4-5 inches wide: Free USPS Priority Mailing Boxes Shipped to Your Home.
Also, don't forget to order the free labels that go with them Free USPS Priority Mailing Labels.
One of the best deals going for heavier items are the 2 sizes of Flat Rate Priority Mailing Boxes: 12"x3.5"x14" or 11"x8.5"x5.5" -- "Any weight, any State, $7.70. No matter which Flat Rate Box you choose, the postage is $7.70, regardless of weight or destination" These save you a bundle for heavier items!
Note that boxes (including the flat rate) and labels may also available at the post office.
Here is a Word File that you might try for printing up a batch of Pre-addressed Priority Mailing Labels for the USPS Priority Mailing labels. You may have to work on the margins, etc to get this to work with your printer. Save it to file and open with word. Try it with regular sheets of paper to get an idea of how to feed the labels. Note that the "From" and "To" are already on the blank labels. If you get a message that the margins are outside of the printable area of the page when you begin the printing, just ignore it.
You may also want to invest in a commercial type 3M Tape Dispenser Grip--these are sold at places like Sam's Club and usually include several roles of tape.
